20 December, Dhaka– Southtech Ltd had the opportunity to hold a seminar on Cyberbullying and Cybercrime for Class 3 and 4 students of Sir John Wilson School.
The two-day session held on 27th and 28th November, 2018 at the school’s campus in Satarkul, was attended by a total of 225 students, between the ages of 9 to 10 years. Recognizing the increasing prevalence of digital communication among the younger generation, Southtech held an interactive session with the preteens to increase awareness about responsible usage and behaviour over the Internet.
Alongside the seminar for the students, Southtech distributed posters and flyers specific to the teachers and parents respectively. “The seminar on both the days went very well. The fun quiz section in the end was very effective I believe. Moreover, I was very pleased to see that though primarily for the students, Southtech also took initiative to increase awareness among teachers and parents with respect to handling kids in the cyberage”, said Ms. Sabrina Shaheed, Principal of Sir John Wilson School.
From educating them on how the cyberspace works to the importance of online etiquette, Southtech’s Consultant to Strategy & Relationships Department, Syeda Wedad Quader, engaged with the class on the importance of cyber security. A question and answer round was met with an enthusiastic response from the students who were happy to share stories from their own experiences on the cyber web. A survey questionnaire was shared with the students post-seminar to understand their online activity and provide feedback to the school.
Southtech holds great importance in the power of knowledge-sharing and plans to pursue more seminars of similar nature in the future.
